Hi everyone,
So I suppose a good place to start is with an explanation of what this is and/or how this came about. A few of us were at Thorton’s for CBT (I think) and thought, “hmm, we should have a wine club at Ad.com…” And so it was born...Me, Tu-Anh, and Connie are continuously working to tweak the format for this gathering but we are all really excited to have a group of people that are willing to crash beer clubs with vino. Strength in numbers people :) Strength in numbers.
With that beautiful and touching explanation of the genesis of this group, there are some other points to touch on. Roll that beautiful bean footage:
The work distro for this group is CorkedClub@platform-A.com. They made me name it “Corked Club” as I had to use proper Engrish. Pfft! Anyho, this will only go to work emails so if you would like to be taken off, just let us know.
This is the blog…I’m glad you figured that out :) This will be used to post wines, events, and anything else you’d like to see. Your source for all corked club info!
I’m still working out what the appropriate size is for this group. I’m going with “the more the merrier” approach at this point so please let me know if I should add anyone. Connie will be writing the rules and such so if they understand that not bringing in wine at appropriate time is punishable by death, then we’re good. If you’re new to the group, please follow this link with instructions to join.
Lastly, we need a schedule yes? You can find such schedule here. I organized people into groups with Group 1 having Amanda, Angie, and Byron. I put the wine type as a default, but you guys can talk amongst your group. Please coordinate with your group and let us know by Friday morning what wine you are bringing in along with three fun facts. Some good resources for said fun facts can be found on the links on this page.
How much to spend. Well, you can get an excellent Chilean wine for $10 dollars. However, a Shiraz for that price may be…well not good. So, I guess use your judgment! The powers that be were talking (heh) and agreed on a range of $10 - $40 bones…But I’m thinking that upper limit is for when you’ve just found an AWESOME wine and have been hit with the happy stick and just need to share with everyone. In that case, I’m open to said person adopting me as well. Just saying…
Wine time is every other Friday at 3pm. We’ll meet at both Cascade and at Ivory. There is a beer club at Cascade at same time, so please feel free to rub in our superiority with picking the better liquid. This week will be at Cascade.
As I’ve stated, we’re still working out the format. I think for now, we’re trying to get an idea of people’s likes/dislikes and go from there (i.e. red vs. white wines, wines by varietals, etc.). I mean it is really just about drinking some vino peeps so the format will be worked out to figure out how to maximize said fun level. So please feel free to comment and leave suggestions!
Salud!
